homeR About Joining Coaching Juniors Members

    Fixed Fours

  • Comprise a pre-arranged game of doubles. Fixed Fours take court priority on Monday and Thursday evenings. If there are any fours waiting to come on Members have to give way after playing a set or the first to 6 games.
  • Social Tennis / Mix-Ins

  • Members also have to give way to match games, singles or doubles, if there is a shortage of courts after a set or the first to 6 games.

  • During Social Tennis/Mix-Ins, members play a set of doubles with whoever is available and then await allocation/availability for the next doubles group. Allocation to a doubles group is in order of arrival. If there are any Members waiting to play Members have to give way after playing a set or the first to 6 games.

  • Members who play during these times are obliged to join the 'mix-in'.

  • Members are requested not to play 'Ropey-Ladder' matches, singles or 'Fixed-Fours' at these times.

  • Juniors aged 14 or over of sufficient competence may enter the social tennis/mix-ins on an equal footing to adults subject to club approval. A list of appropriate juniors will be posted in the clubhouse if any issues arise from this.
  • Free Play

  • Free Play means members can play singles or doubles. If there are singles or doubles waiting to come on Members have to give way after playing a set or the first to 6 games.
  • Unregulated Play

  • Outside of these times play is uncontrolled but please bear in mind competitive matches take precedence if there is a court shortage, so please check the online court booking system. Club matches tend to be played on Sunday mornings and junior matches often occur on Saturdays on the hard courts. Junior coaching occurs on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

  • Juniors have priority on 4 of the grass courts midweek from 16.00-18.00pm and Saturday mornings till 12.00. Outside of these periods Junior members are required to give way to adults if all the available grass courts are taken but they may continue on hard courts if available. If the hard courts are also fully utilised Juniors will have to give way until enough courts become free to accommodate them. During the winter months under floodlights, if the courts have been booked online, this does not apply. Whoever has booked online takes precedence.

These arrangements are under constant review as we are seeking to maximise court use
and tailor for the majority of the members needs. Please let the committee have your feedback
or suggestions.
