For the friendliest tennis club in the Surbiton / Molesey / Esher / Kingston / Sunbury area ...

If you're looking for somewhere to play tennis, come and join us in Weston Green Road, where you will be assured of a very warm welcome.

Young or old, single or encumbered, experienced or novice -- this village club will have something for you.  The broad range of playing standards amongst our 400 members ensures that you will always find a good selection of players at your level; and our varied social programme will see you paired off in no time.

Thames Ditton LTC was established in 1882 -- just nine years after the publication of the rules of lawn tennis --  and is the oldest club in England still on its original site.  It has six superb grass courts, which, like those at Wimbledon and Queen’s, are maintained to an exacting standard, making summer play a truly luxurious experience.  Our four hard courts enable all-year round enjoyment of tennis, with the added facility of a practice wall and Short Tennis Court for the development of future Grand Slam stars.
After a great deal of hard work to protect the club’s future from property developers and with the support of various sporting and funding bodies our club is now thriving.

We support a broad range of tennis from ‘rusty rackets’ to competitive matches to a county and national standard. If you are new to the game or lapsed we offer free coaching courses in May to members. As a new member you will be made very welcome at the Mix-ins on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.  During the summer there are tea and cakes at around 4 p.m. and the bar opens around 6pm.  This is a great time to meet other members.

Come to our Open Weekend, or feel free to come and see us at any other time.  Phone any committee member to arrange an introduction.  Or just come along!

On Bank Holidays there are friendly American Tournaments.  (You do not need to be American to participate.)  Keep an eye on notice boards for more details.

If you want to play more competitive tennis there are Club Tournaments for Singles, Doubles, Mixed and Vets.  You need to get your entries completed in May and watch the club notice boards for draw details.   Or, if you want to play for the Club we can offer members quality league and friendly matches against other clubs in the area.  We appeal to a broad range of players with many teams who play in the Surrey Summer and Winter leagues.  Social matches against local clubs are arranged during the summer.  Please contact Match Secretary Graeme Boddy for more details.

The club has a very active junior section, with some players currently playing in the Middlesex and Surrey County Squads.  In addition to local leagues, teams have been entered for the National Club Junior League.

Social Activities

During the summer months the friendly bar is open most evenings which are punctuated at the weekends with informal social events such as parties, quiz nights and BBQs. Weather permitting we intend to have BBQs on Friday evenings and after the American Tournaments on Bank holidays. Details on these events will be available on the club notice boards and regular emails will be sent out advising members on forthcoming events.

Each year we hold a big Summer Party, including a marquee, buffet and dancing.

Many of the most successful social events involve members’ weddings and birthdays.  We want to encourage members to use the facilities for private functions.  So, if you would like to celebrate a birthday or just fancy a party, call Shaun Freeman for rates and availability for the use of the clubhouse, bar and disco.
